Toilet Paper Roll City + Cardboard Car by Michel Gondry

I just realize i forgot to post the city made by toilet paper rolls in the Science of Sleep by Michel Gondry. There is a behind story of making this city. To make this paper roll city, Michel Gondry himself and his family gathered toilet paper rolls for 4 years!
I also added a cardboard car. We are planning to make a car for our environment but much simpler version. They actually helped our team a lot to came up the concept of paper city we are working on.
Thanks for Michel Gondry and his genius imagination.

What I found in Copenhagen..

While I was in Copenhagen, I could manage to find major interesting objects for our group project.
They had a lot of clever interior and exterior design throughout the whole city.

↑↑↑look at that flying elephant on the wall!

leaves made by gem stone

interesting shape of lamp

Simple but geometrical shape of candlestick

Looks like a building but It was only painting on the wall. How clever.

These simple cone shape of trees with each different texture were scattered in the city
It seems like the elephants in london in this summer.

This picture is 2 years old. I went to Odense, one of city of denmark as well. The chimney textured with giraffe pattern and sculpture looks like tulip in the pot,  they are in harmony with buildings

Turning Point

After the meeting with Jared today, our plan has been changed to make paper city. Inspired by Thomas Heatherwick's The Rolling Bridge,  Sittoterie II and etc, we moved on to origami and recycled objects.
For example, news paper textured building, flying origami bird or butter fly or toilet paper roll city.
So I searched about paper works.

Back to Michel Gondry's the Science of Sleep, the toilet paper roll city is very good reference for our
project now.

Belgium handy graphic artist Julien Vallee's work
his works are so amazing. It looks like photoshop or illustrator art work but it IS actually in real world.

Designing ferris wheel

Based on the london eye, I have been thinking about how to make the ferris wheel.
Unlikely old fashion ferris wheel, london eye's cabin basically turn within circular mounting rings fixed to the outside of the main rim. It will take time to rig or animate it. So I came up the design of cabin for my ferris wheel.

and I designed something very different and crazy shape of ferris wheel. It was from the meeting yesterday and Abs came up with making something totally different like "star".
After that, the Solar system struck me. At first, I was thinking about making cabins as every single planet revolves around sun and put roundy sun shape in the middle. However, it went too far and it actually makes really complicate. So I just drew it sun as a main structure and cabins as saturn and typical star shape. Also the way cabin moves isn't like london eye. It's like hanging cabins as old fashion ferris wheel.
